K. STYBLO1

1 Research Director, Tuberculosis Surveillance Research Unit of the International Union against Tuberculosis, P.B. 146, The Hague, The Netherlands.

Styblo, K. (Research Director, Tuberculosis Surveillance Research Unit of the International Union against Tuberculosis, P.B. 146, The Hague, The Netherlands). Surveillance of tuberculosis. International Journal of Epidemiology 1976, 5: 63–68.

Surveillance must be an integral part of any effective tuberculosis programme and should be concerned with two distinct subjects—surveillance of the tuberculosis situation and surveillance of control measures applied. This paper describes and discusses these two aspects with regard to both developed and developing countries, and makes recommendations for the collection of reliable surveillance data.
