Diversion: An Epidemiological Enigma

The under-noted lines may illustrate a little of the scepticism still persisting among many health care professionals and perhaps also the occasional confusion among many Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) self-prescribers as to what they should do. More cogently the lines emphasize the need for new epidemiological studies measuring extent and effectiveness of a selected range of CAM methods and strategies defined by the Delphi questionnaire. These and other methods are used evermore widely by a growing number professional and lay CAM users in the general population.
An apple a day keeps the doctor away
A hoary old adage still heard to this day:
But recently heard quite apposite voices,
Offering us all alternative choices:
Jog twenty minutes at least twice a week
Double your pulse rate. Get it close to its peak.
But jogging in public still draws attention,
So be modestly dressed. Don't defy convention.
And to those who must carry a cellular phone,
Don't try to answer 'til really alone;
When you're forced to a haltexhibit some style,
Run on the spot or touch-toe the while.
Or
Slow down your pulse. Keep stress at bay
Sit still for ten minutes, ten times a day.
Relax completely. Sink down in your seat,
Put what you carry down there at your feet.
Close both your eyes. Abandon dull care.
Think only calm thoughts and you're virtually there.
Say Flat and breathe in, then Belly- breathe out,
Do both together. Feel a little less stout?
Jogging or sitting? Too soon to say?
Try a little of both and an apple a day!
