Commentary: The Doctors Dilemma: a response

The central thesis in the Preface to The Doctors Dilemma1 was, of course, that a profession that had a direct and pecuniary interest in the treatment of its patients could not be trusted to act in their interests.
It is said that Shaws hatred of doctors stemmed from a bungled operation on his foot.
