Maruchi N [Associate Professor, Department of Health Administration, School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, The University of Tokyo, 7–3–1, Hongo, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, 113, Japan], Yoo S P and Tanaka T. A nationwide survey on thyroid care delivery in Japan, with special emphasis on resources allocation. International Journal of Epidemiology 1979, 8: 251–256.

Results of a nationwide survey show an uneven distribution of ‘thyroidologists’ and special facilities for the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid disease in Japan. A case is made for more systematic resource allocation in regional planning.
