Alcohol Consumption, Alcoholism and Excessive DrinkingErrors in Estimates from Consumption Figures

A persistent fallacy in epidemiological research into alcoholism is pointed out and the history of its perpetuation discussed. The Implications of recognizing the fallacy are outlined with particular reference to public policy.
